Reading aloud is not only an effective strategy for teaching young students how to read – it’s an important step in editing and honing your own writing.
And while you will not be graded on the quality of your writing, ensuring your commentaries clearly articulate your thinking is critical.
With this in mind – read your edTPA® assessment commentaries aloud . Read slowly and listen to yourself.
By reading your work aloud, you will see where you have misused words, forgotten to add a ‘s’, or have made errors in subject / verb agreement – such as in the example below:
- Incorrect: “The students writes their essays on the weather.”
- Correct: “The students write their essays on the weather.”
