The tenses you use when writing your commentaries are important. And which tense you use should vary depending on what commentary you’re writing.
Remember that the Planning commentary is designed to be written BEFORE you teach your lessons. So use future tense.
- “I plan to…”
- “I will…“
However, when you write the Instruction commentary, use the past tense:
- “We discussed…”
- “I taught…”
- “The students said…”
Essentially, the instructional materials for Task 1 should be what you PLAN to use – not completed charts or notes from the board, etc. Those completed pieces go with Task 2.
